It has been an incredible start to 2007! There are a lot of exciting things going on at Heartland this year! It seems like each year we are booking up a little earlier and adding something new. This year is no exception! I want to make sure that we are able to accommodate you, so please give us a call if you plan on staying with us this year.
I am excited to announce that we have teamed up with Andy Campbell to provide six concerts at Heartland this spring and summer. I think you will enjoy listening to him under the stars on a spring or summer night.
I want to thank all of our guests who stayed with us last year. I know you have options and I appreciate you choosing us. You have become a part of our family!
I would love to hear from you! Please send me an e-mail and let me know how things are going and if there is anything that I can do for you!
I look forward to seeing you this year!

As we close another chapter in the history of Heartland Lodge, another one begins. I want to thank all the hunters that hunted with us this past season. 2006 was a great year! If you have not already checked out our photo gallery go to www.heartlandlodge.com/gallery61/ and see the year we had.
In 2006 our hunters harvested some of the largest scoring whitetails since Heartland opened. Multiple 150’s and 160’s, even two 170’s, and our largest taken this year was 182 and change. Any one of these bucks could have walked by you if you were hunting with us last fall! If you missed last year, don’t worry, we still have a few prime spots available for 2007.
With the success that our hunters had in the 2006 season, the 2007 season has already begun. We have been out in the woods scouting new spots for the 2007 season. We have found many sheds already and some have been very impressive!
I am personally looking forward to another record breaking year, and hope to see you in camp. If you want that hunt of a lifetime, give me a call or e-mail.

Hello fellow turkey hunters, now that deer season is over we turn our full attention to the sounds of gobbles. With spring almost here the morning sunrises will soon be filled with the music of the wild turkey. I saw plenty of long breads throughout the deer season and can’t wait to get my calls out and in the woods. This should be another great season since birds look to be plentiful again. If you haven’t booked your spring turkey hunt, now is the time to do it. We still have a few spots available so please call to see if we can work a hunt into your schedule.

Our hunting facility has never ceased to amaze me. The hunting was great in spite of a lot of warm still days. Not once did we get skunked. The ducks (true to form) found our corn the first week of the season and continued to build in population until the second week in December. We held ducks until two days after the season closed when we drained the main lake. Upwards of 20,000 mallards used our facility to feed and rest. The aerator system worked great. It kept our water open and so did 20,000 ducks! Our best days were when the temperature was dipping into the single digits. We took limits of Mallards in minutes.
Well, 2007 holds some big improvement projects. We will be flooding twice the area that we did in 2006! The field adjacent to the one that we flooded last year will be also flooded. So, we will have a much larger open body of water for the ducks to see from a long way off. Plus we will have more corn for the ducks to feed on and rest in. Oh, we will also have another concrete pit located in that new flooded area.
With the turret type pump outlet that we installed last year it is very simple to turn the outlet 180 degrees and let the water run into the “Crooked Slough”, so we are going to install some plumbing to control and hold the water and flood this great hunting area as well! Once again the Crooked Slough will be home to the south bound mallards, Teal, Gadwalls and Wood ducks that it once was. We will have a blind located in the same spot that was notorious for taking ducks some 45 years ago!
