Lovin’ Every Minute of My Recent Hunting Season!
April 19th, 2012
I just wanted to take a minute to share with all of you how I have loved every minute of my recent hunting seasons. 2011 – 2012 has given me some of the best hunting experiences that I have ever had. Certainly, it has been another excellent whitetail season, and I was able harvest numerous whitetails this year, despite this extremely mild winter we had. At one point, I was hunting does with my clients at Heartland Lodge in January with 60 degree temps. It was crazy, but my group still had a blast and we managed to harvest numerous whitetails. I had the honor this deer season to observe 2 of my clients harvest their first whitetails ever. It took me many years back to reflect on some of my first deer harvests. I had the best upland season that I have had in a long time. It was very special because I made the time to bring my Dad down to Heartland Lodge and give him another opportunity to get out into the field. My Dad is pushing 80 yrs old and seeing him out in the field, enjoying the dogs, & still able to knock down some birds, is a memory that will last a lifetime for me. A special thank you to Terry, our Upland Manager, for going beyond the call of duty and making this such a special hunt for my Dad. In 2012, I had the best shed hunting ever. Sure, I found more antlers than usual. And yes, some of them were larger than normal. But what made this shed hunting so memorable is that fact that I did most of it with my 2 young sons. It didn’t matter if everything was going right, or we got stuck in pouring rain, we always had fun together enjoying the great outdoors. I will look back one day and remember these years. I now find myself excited to see what spring turkey season will bring. Hopefully, next year will be just as memorable as last year. What are some of your favorite memories? Let me help you make some memories that last a lifetime at Harpole’s Heartland Lodge.
