Opening day has finally come and hunters have made their way into camp. It’s always an exciting time of year for both hunters and guides. It didn’t take long for everyone to be smiling and telling stories about previous seasons and hopes for the season ahead. All the stories, along with the memories of the one they got, the ones that got away, and who they were with when it happened. For one father and son, Heartland Lodge will be a memory that will stay with them forever. Both were beginning archery hunters and were eager to soak up all the information possible that all the guides could give. After a few adjustments and tips, both hunters were shooting very well in a short period of time. It took a few times on stands and a few close encounters before both hunters arrowed deer. This father and son team both harvested does out of the same stand on the same night. Its times like these that make you reflect on when you hunted as a kid with your father, mother, brother, or hunting partner you grew up with. It’s the memories of hunting afield you share with the people that stay with you the longest and smile the most. Good luck to everyone this season and be safe out there so you can share another memory with a hunting partner.
