Harpole’s Heartland Lodge is a treasure that my sister and I found tucked up in the hills of Pike County, IL. We are always looking for a new place to relax and have an adventure and we did exactly that.  From the moment we stepped out of our car, we felt welcomed by everyone we met. Wanda was never without a smile, always accommodating, and fun to visit with.  We had come to ride horses and take long walks in the woods.We were blessed to see many species of birds and animals and they greatly added to our enjoyment.

I must mention that the food at Heartland Lodge is equal to any I have eaten at any 4 star restaurant. In just 5 days, I learned to salivate at the sound of the dinner bell. Served family style around the large tables in the beautiful dining hall, meals were taken with new friends with lots of stories to share. I do miss the bell.

My sister and I will definitely return to Heartland Lodge for another peaceful vacation.
