BOOK NOWThe Original Lodge is rich with tradition and memories! This cozy lodge was the first lodge built at Heartland Lodge and is 9,500 square feet. The Original Lodge is one of the favorites among guests who visit each year.
The Original Lodge features front and back decks complete with Adirondack chairs, rockers and porch gliders. Accessible from the Great Room, the large rear deck overlooks the back yard and bonfire pit. Sit on the deck with your morning cup of coffee and watch the birds at the feeders scattered throughout the property or share your favorite beverage with friends around the roaring bonfire each night. This lodge also has two sets of cornhole boards, providing a fun entertainment option for you and your guests, no matter the age! Unwind and have a great time with this classic game right at your doorstep!
If you are looking for a little peace and quiet, check out the sitting area in the loft overlooking the Great Room – the perfect spot for a quiet conversation or reading a book.
The Recreation Room is located on the lower level of the cabin. A large, flat-screen television, pool table, card/game table and a small library will invite guests to make themselves at home. French doors provide access from the Recreation Room to an outdoor patio area and the bonfire pit. Also located on the lower level is a Boardroom which seats sixteen people at a conference table featuring a painting of the original cabin. Many articles dating back to when the original cabin opened its doors are framed and hanging on the walls of the lower level. We encourage guests to enjoy the history of Heartland Lodge.

The Original Lodge features eleven regular rooms, the Angler Room and the Whitetail Suite for a total of thirteen rooms. Each room or suite is decorated in a theme according to its name.
Each room or suite at The Original Lodge can be reserved for individual guests or couples. When reserving individual rooms, it is encouraged that you purchase the meals package, which are served at our Prairie Ridge Lodge, just a short walk from the Lodge along a rose-lined walkway.
If you have the need for more than one or two rooms, this lodge is ideal for businesses, groups or families to reserve exclusively for yourselves. If your reservations include the meal plan (highly recommended), the meals will be served in the Prairie Ridge Lodge. If you prefer to prepare your own meals, the fully-equipped kitchen available makes the Original Cabin Lodge ideal for your group.
The Whitetail Suite is the most romantic room at the Original lodge, featuring a king-size, triple-sheeted canopy bed, a private two person hot tub, and fireplace. This suite is decorated in a Whitetail theme after the beautiful whitetail deer that are abundant around the resort. This room also has French doors leading to a walkout porch with a porch glider – perfect for viewing the wildlife and hummingbirds that feed at our feeders.
This room is decorated with a fishing theme and is located on the lower level of the Original Lodge. It features a queen-size, triple-sheeted bed, a set of twin bunk beds and private bath, making it a perfect choice for a couple or families. This room has become a favorite with our guests.
There are eleven regular rooms in The Original Lodge and each room is decorated in a nature theme according to its name such as Fox, Geese, Wolf and Eagle. All of these rooms have two extra-long, triple-sheeted twin beds and a private bathroom. These rooms are located on all three levels of the Original Cabin. (Two of the eleven regular rooms have twin bunk beds.)
The dining area and fully-equipped kitchen are located on the main level of the cabin and adjoin the Great Room. The warmth of the atmosphere will encourage family and friends to share meals and stories around a dining table that seats fourteen.
This fully-equipped kitchen in the Original Lodge is where it all started with the mouth-watering meals that the resort is known for. Now that Heartland Lodge prepares its meals in the kitchen off the Dining Hall in Prairie Ridge Cabin, you can enjoy the use of this kitchen with a side-by-side refrigerator, stove, microwave and dishwasher during your stay in the cabin. A gas barbecue grill is also available for your use.
A washer and dryer are available for your use at no additional charge.
Free wireless internet access is available throughout the cabin.
Special Note: All guests need to remove their shoes in the mud room. You may bring house slippers or just wear your heavy socks while in the lodge. Our guests really enjoy this feature – it’s just like home!

Deposit Policy
Full payment of your stay is due when making your reservations.
Cancellation Policy
Due to the nature of our business, we ask for a 60-day cancellation notice for lodge buyouts (30-day for individual room reservations). A process fee of 10% of your total booking will be charged when cancelling. Cancellations without 60 days (30 days for individual room reservations) will not be refunded. If someone in your original booking party does not show, you will be charged the full amount. These policies help us provide you with better service.
Harpole’s Heartland Lodge strives to give our guests the best experience possible. We understand that your upcoming trip is a significant investment. We offer trip insurance through North America’s leading provider of Travel Insurance called “Travel Guard”.
