Book your Fall Getaway at the Lodge Now!

Can you believe we’re already talking about fall!? If you’re like me, each year at this time, you ask yourself “where has the year gone?” I don’t know about you, but I am always adding things to my already busy calendar…and this time of year is certainly no exception! In fact, I am booking things into December AND even into next year! And I’m also penciling in those things that I’ve come across this year that I want to experience! So, with everything going on in our busy lives, how does a person unwind? I know what I did last year…and you can do the same thing this year!

One of the “perks” of writing these blogs for Heartland Lodge is also having the opportunity to photograph the beautiful landscapes near and around the lodge. So, in late October of last year, I headed to the lodge to do something a little different…get up before sunrise and shoot some early morning shots! But maybe you’re sitting there thinking “but I’m not a morning person” or “I’m not into photography”…and that’s okay! There are still many reasons to book your visit to the lodge during the fall months.

Fall at the Lodge is Absolutely Magical!

Are you celebrating a wedding anniversary? Are you empty-nesters with the kids all off to college? Are you looking for a way to unwind and clear your head? Need a little getaway before the holiday season? Or are you just an outdoorsy type looking for a new place to enjoy the wonderful colors of the fall season? Regardless of the reason you desire a getaway, I can certainly recommend the lodge during this time of year! If you’ve never been to the rolling hills of Pike County, during the fall months, then this is the year you’ll want to book your getaway!

Just imagine…a nice, quiet drive through the countryside brings you to the perfect destination to relax and enjoy all the amenities of the lodge. One of the first things that comes to mind are the home-cooked meals…made from scratch each and every day! There is nothing more satisfying on a cool fall morning than a home-cooked brunch to help start your day! And who can go away hungry when dinner is as scrumptious as they come?

But the meals are only one part of why fall is such a great time to visit the lodge. Imagine getting up before dawn so you can enjoy watching the sunrise from the deck outside your room. Watching the sun come up over the trees is a great way to reconnect with nature. And the later it gets in October, you might even get to see some frost on the pumpkin (in my case, the ground was covered and photographing the frost on the arena fence was a challenge.)

Once the sun comes up, you’ll then see that the lodges are all decked out for fall! Miss Wanda loves to decorate for the seasons and fall is no exception. You’ll find scarecrows peeking around every corner (okay, maybe not) but you will see them throughout the property. And there will be pumpkins, mums and straw bales…all indications of the fall harvest season. With the cooler weather that is coming in, spending the day walking the property gives you the perfect opportunity to view the landscape in all its glory. Heartland has some of the most beautiful landscapes in the area and the oranges, reds and yellows of the fall leaves do not disappoint.

Enjoy the Picturesque Panoramic Views of the Countryside!

So, if you’re not a morning person…and you miss the sunrise…don’t worry! The colorful landscapes surrounding the lodges will provide the backdrop for some of the most amazing sunsets in the area. The days are getting shorter but the sunsets over the Mississippi River bluffs will leave you wanting more. I’ve tried photographing many sunsets and each one seems as different and as beautiful as the last. I am anxious to see the setting sun over the colors of fall at Sunset Valley this year…will you beat me to it?

But the fall season at the lodge doesn’t have to be just for relaxation. There are many fall festivals and special events taking place that you’ll be able to enjoy the colors while listening to live music, shopping, and enjoying the local food found at each festival.

So, if it’s rest and relaxation during this fall that you’re needing or looking for…Heartland is the place to be. And if you enjoy the festivities of the fall season, Heartland will be perfect for you too! I have to admit, I’m enjoy a little of both…which is one of the reasons I’m so fond of Heartland this time of year. I’m excited that the resort season has been extended and hope that you will have some time to enjoy it as well.
