  • Basic Principles of Horsemanship
    • The highlight of Harpole’s Heartland Lodge’s Horse Event is the hands-on clinic designed to enhance participants’ understanding of basic horsemanship. Whether you’re a novice rider or an experienced equestrian, this clinic covers fundamental principles that lay the groundwork for horsemanship. From mastering the art of communication in the saddle to refining your cues and body language, the clinic offers a personalized and supportive learning environment.
  • Groundwork: Building Trust and Connection
    • Participants will engage in exercises that enhance communication, establish boundaries, and deepen the bond with their equine companions. These foundational groundwork skills not only contribute to a more cooperative riding experience but also foster a stronger connection between horse and rider.
  • Horse Care: Nurturing Well-being
    • Understanding the importance of holistic horsemanship, we will cover the essential aspects of horse care. From grooming techniques and tacking to basic health care and nutrition, participants gain valuable insights into ensuring the well-being of their horses. The emphasis on horse care goes beyond the clinic, empowering riders to be conscientious caretakers of their equine partners.
  • Old West Style Campfire: Cooking smore’s and enjoy meeting other horse enthusiast!
    • Enjoy smore’s over the bonfire and other Western themed foods during this weekend’s event (brunch & supper included in the meal plan for overnight guests only, must reserve when booking). After a day on the trail, enjoy relaxing around the campfire enjoying your favorite beverage and snacks. Each night we will have a campfire behind the Original Lodge.

Horseback Riding Event Reviews-

“Absolutely wonder experience & great clinic! Jesse & family are soo experienced and knowledgeable. I’ve been around horses my entire life and walked away with soo many wow moments, take aways and sharing stories! I had always just done things, cuz I grew up in the…this is just how you do it era. Not knowing the why behind it or if it was right or wrong! It was soo well done for the very beginners and experienced riders being in the same group. Soo much information & fun, soo little time! Knowledge is power!” -Cyn Brand, July 2024
